Sanity

I find you
God
In all the spaces
Between electronic humming and insanity
When
I slow down and take notice of…
Those things others may miss
For their rushing
Like fluttering leaves
Conducting their own symphony
With wind as their instrument
And the downy woodpecker
Tapping aspen in my sister’s backyard
Delighting us with his bright red nape.
Baby blue rays perfectly slanted
Pouring out of heavenly holes
Compelling me to soar up to heaven
To be with my great God and the angels.
But wait!
There’s more…
Splayed branches now bare of their clothes…
Pushing, pointing, directing my attention
Ever up, upwards pushing up to the sky
As luminous brilliant pink orange cotton candy swirls
Inspire a recipe.
I can almost taste it,
This tangerine
Fluffy cloud sorbet
Citrusy, sweet, sour, tart, tangy
All at the same time.

Ethereal Rays

Hwy 71 returning to Dayton from Hocking hills
Translucent blue ethereal rays pour down
Out of cloud gaps
These rays beckon me
To soar up to heaven
Baby blue rays perfectly slanted 45°
Towards the ground
All the more dramatic
For their juxtaposition against a lightly cloudy grey sky.
My friend Lorraine would whip this
Up quick, fast, and in a hurry
Capturing (on canvas) forever this
Fleeting precious priceless ethereal look.
This gorgeous light continues
To pour and I imagine angels
Waiting for me at the tops of these holes of light.
His majesty revealed again.

Cotton Candy Swirl

Pink and purple vertically streak the western sky
Sweetly surprising me upon my exit
Out the back door to discard compost.
Do not miss these moments
Of incredible beauty
Because you are distracted.
Take time to look up!

Reveal

Good morning Robin
When we get up
Standup
Situp
Shift up
Out of complaining
We may truly be blessed
By the  abundance of this creation. ..
The simple things
A Robin protruding his beak up
To grasp a single bead of rainwater
To quench his thirst this morning
And take note of the downy woodpecker
Bhakti and I had the great fortune to feast eyes upon
And identify yesterday
In a world full of much chaos and insanity and disappointment
Please take time to notice the blessings always
Even the tiniest that are dropping your way.

Beauty Soak

Green hearts shimmering
Viewed from the cedar wood platform at Cox Metropark
A bunny nestles in a hole on the trail
And then scurries away with the unexpected sudden movement
So many different shades of green
Tantalize the eyes
A warm hot sunny gorgeous summer day in Ohio
I am soaking in the beauty.

Brian Keith Wallen
So Low
Happy Freaking Friday
After a mentally exhausting week
But rewarding too
Give thanks…
For the simple blessings of these spring days
Tulips resplendent in all their glory
Grateful for time with Alessandro
Shooting hoops in the driveway
While my sister persistently and insistently
Pulls the grass length down with her mower
Driving between Bellbrook and Centerville
The smell of the ground fresh with precipitation
Seeps into my nostrils, windows down
Ethereal blue shades of paint
Streak haphazardly across the sky
Birds chirp happily with the thaw of winter.
Watching Sandro
Enjoy Madagascar homemade vanilla ice-cream at Spinoza’s
Is hog heaven
Seriously he...
We all…scream for ice cream

Cardinal Welcome

Robins pluck worms out of the ground
And bunnies hop in the plentiful rain
This verdant moisture rich landscape
Starkly contrasted to the dry
Dry brown of harsh desert from which I came
A cardinal alighted in a very tall tree
Shaking its plumage as if to Welcome me to the east
An auspicious symbol immediately reminding me of my Grandmother
Oma who, in her later years,
Often sat drinking a cup of tea watching
Scarlet red cardinals Feed ravenously
In excited delightful displays
vibrantly highlighted on snow
Against the pure white
Of the silencing unblemished virginal snow…
These two classically Quintessential colors
Could be wedding colors
Juxtaposing classily
Winter sweet nature scene themed on banquet tables.

Invitation to Fly

6/1/2007

A remarkable bird is a pelican
Spreading wings wide like picture windows
Inspires sweet serenity
Slowness of breath
Swooping slow, low for fish
Skimming wild water.
I long to be like the pelican,
To fly to distant lands,
Soar on ocean currents,
Rest on gigantic boulders awhile,
And then soar
Fly some more
This is the stuff of my dreams,
Happy dreams of flight,
Flight freedom of despair
Escape from trouble
Weightlessness
Bliss
Yes, I will soar
And invite you to come with me.

Tails Move Me

(2:12-2:17)
Vast and wide,
Ebbs and flows,
Fast and slow,
Pulls me in under
To another world, mysterious
Where kelp undulates surrounding me
And I am lost for a moment.
Imagine I see a mermaid.
Imagine I am a mermaid
Diving deep feeling that cold of the deep.
My skin insulating me from that icy feeling
Swimming effortlessly,
Gracefully through kelp forests,
Saying hello to my sea lion friends
And then diving deeper to play with anemones and starfish.
Below so much color in this seemingly vast dark abyss.

Natural Cocaine

7/22/2001

 (noon or after)
I saw the most gorgeous falls today,
Burney Falls CA.
On the way
The river water was soothing
As it rushed past.
Oh my God!
It is spectacular, inspiration of God
One of his most brilliant creations.
The existence of something higher
Cannot be denied when in the face
Of steadily rushing pounding cascades of water.
I have been all over the world
But this is by far the most spectacular
And the mist rising off the falls is like
Natural cocaine for the body.
Suns reflection turns the water underneath
A vibrant turquoise blue.
So magical to have a place like this
In the midst of so much chaos, euphoria.
I wonder how many poems have been inspired here.
How many people have experienced a sense of beauty,
And wonder and tranquility.
One could never fully capture the grandeur of this place if they tried.
How can you not acknowledge the existence
Of something more powerful than you
When you see this place?
For your soul not to acknowledge such a beauty
Would be truly pathetic sadness.
I wish my friends to appreciate this peace as much as I do.
Truly gorgeous and to take the source of these falls
Home with me.
I could listen to this all day, every day
For the rest of my existence.
All you see is black and brown mountain moss
And plants green cover and cascades
Of sheer white water,
1,000,000,000 million gallons every day.
The water pours constantly like a never ending shower.
The mist swirls around us cooling us from the natural
Heat of summer.
My appreciation is due to God.
What an appropriate place to be on a Sunday.
I wish this memory seared in my soul forever.
Can’t you tell?
I love waterfalls.
Will my friends have to drag me away today?
Sri rama chandra kripalo bhaja mana harana bhave darunam.
It forces one to look up to take notice
Of the beauty above.
How small we are in comparison.
