Cardinal Welcome

Robins pluck worms out of the ground
And bunnies hop in the plentiful rain
This verdant moisture rich landscape
Starkly contrasted to the dry
Dry brown of harsh desert from which I came
A cardinal alighted in a very tall tree
Shaking its plumage as if to Welcome me to the east
An auspicious symbol immediately reminding me of my Grandmother
Oma who, in her later years,
Often sat drinking a cup of tea watching
Scarlet red cardinals Feed ravenously
In excited delightful displays
vibrantly highlighted on snow
Against the pure white
Of the silencing unblemished virginal snow…
These two classically Quintessential colors
Could be wedding colors
Juxtaposing classily
Winter sweet nature scene themed on banquet tables.
