Be the change

The Truth  Is...

The truth is I am a true Daytonian at heart. Born and raised in the Cornell Heights, Dayton View, and College Hill neighborhoods. I am currently a resident and officer assigned to the neighborhoods listed above. As a youth I have personally witnessed and been involved in incidents involving gun violence. I made some bad decisions as a youth in which I owned and now I have first hand experience on both sides of the badge and the court room.

I have the utmost respect for any and all individuals DOING something positive for their community. I must say after living in Dayton for 36 years and now approaching my 4th year as a Dayton Police Officer, I have a view and perspective that no on else in this city or department has.

I can count on one hand how many times a local community leader has asked me what have I learned, and what should be done to address gun violence and death in our community.
On the other hand I can think of hundreds of incidents where community leaders have totally discredited my perspective, and told me I have no clue what is going on in our community.

I've been told I am competing for power and the spot light. I have been told by individuals with no criminal or law enforcement experience exactly what I need to do to serve this community in a more effective manner.

I have been told since I am a black officer and was involved in community service before I became an officer, then my on duty and off duty contributions towards our city are in no way a reflection of the Dayton Police Department.

Despite what you say or do...

Every time I put on a uniform, deliver free coats, hats, shoes, clothes, and food to children I have not given life to, but seem to father.

Every time I've place my life in harms way on and off duty.

Every time I've reached into my pocket to fund a community service event.

Every time I worked 14 hours and stopped over a citizen's house to let your son play with the lights and sirens in my cruiser.

Every time I had a moment to realize how close I could have been to not being at all.

Every time I've received an award, award, and an award for exemplary performance.

Every time I invest my life, it's for you.

DAYTON POLICE DEPARTMENT IS VERY SUPPORTIVE IN MY ENDEAVORS.
